Here is a small part of the matchup of 8-9 to chapter 6.
Also, there are lots of things that make sense in the matchup, and lots of things aren't clear at this time. For instance, why are the first two teachings in this text bracketed by departure verses?
Matthew 8:18-23 KJVS - 18 Now when Jesus saw great multitudes about him, he gave commandment to depart unto the other side.
19 And a certain scribe came, and said unto him, Master, I will follow thee whithersoever thou goest.
20 And Jesus saith unto him, The foxes have holes, and the birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head.
21 And another of his disciples said unto him, Lord, suffer me first to go and bury my father.
22 But Jesus said unto him, Follow me; and let the dead bury their dead.
23 And when he was entered into a ship, his disciples followed him.
Revelation 6:9-17 KJVS - 9 And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of them that were slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held:
10 And they cried with a loud voice, saying, How long, O Lord, holy and true, dost thou not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth?
11 And white robes were given unto every one of them; and it was said unto them, that they should rest yet for a little season, until their fellowservants also and their brethren, that should be killed as they were, should be fulfilled.
12 And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood;
13 And the stars of heaven fell unto the earth, even as a fig tree casteth her untimely figs, when she is shaken of a mighty wind.
14 And the heaven departed as a scroll when it is rolled together; and every mountain and island were moved out of their places.
15 And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains;
16 And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb:
17 For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?
In Matthew Jesus uses animal homes to point out that Jesus has no home. The foxes have dens.
In Revelation the saints reside under the alter, like a den.
Also, the 5th seal ends by pointing out that more Christians will be slain, and Jesus was also slain, eventually.
Then Jesus says, let the dead bury the dead, placing them underground. This matches with the sixth seal where people pray for rocks and mountains to fall on them.
Jesus controls the answers in Matthew, and at the end of Revelation 6 people are terrified by the wrath of the Lamb.
Jesus and His disciples enter the ship, presumably standing. The last verse in Revelation asks who is able to stand? In both verses Jesus is the central figure.
