Why isn't it commonly known that Matthew and Revelation match up? If the first chapters had clear similarities it would have been noticed long ago. Revelation is written such that the subject transitions were a logical outline to add the chapter numbers. In Matthew the subject transitions were less clear, and so the chapter numbering doesn't follow the Revelation chapters cleanly.
Matthew chapter 1 could have stopped at verse 17, this would have been more logical and the chapters would match clearly for the first three chapers.
